2012“Win In SuZhou Startup Contest

The “Win in Suzhou᾿start up contest in 2012 Silicon Valley Technology Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum and Talent Expo (SVIEF), is expected to establish a platform for the exchange of high-tech talent and projects, while integrating venture capital and high-tech industry between the U.S and China.

The contest, title sponsored by Suzhou, will be held in the Second Annually SVIEF in 2012. The contest, hosted by Suzhou Government, and presented by 99 people, Inc and China Torch IT Services Innovation Alliance, aims at establishing healthy environment to foster high-tech innovation and entrepreneurship, while integrating high-tech talent, capital and market in both countries. The SVIEF helped around 20 entrepreneurial teams, who participated our last Startup contest or QB startup club, to land in hi-tech parks in different Chinese cities .

These teams received capital support and preferential policies from local government. Some even received support from Fortune 500 companies. The Second Annually “Win in Suzhou᾿Start up contest will still be the highlight of the 2012 SVIEF. The top ten most innovative projects will be selected as the entrepreneur stars of this year. SVIEF will focus on the ten teams to foster innovative culture, to help them on investment, marketing, and business development, by professional training, multi-media promotion, entrepreneur road show, referral to venture capitalists and Chinese government, etc..

Highlights
A The contest is supported by Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China (MOST), China Torch IT Services Innovation Alliance. The winning projects will be recommended to MOST’s Torch Innovation Foundation, National “Thousand Talents ProgramἿLeading Talent Plans
B The contest will select top 10 innovation projects as the entrepreneur stars of this year and support these innovation teams using various resources such as Chinese government preferential policies, venture investment, world top companies, and private enterprises, etc. .
C More than 20 Chinese hi-tech parks, 300 US and China enterprises, many US and China investors, and media from
D All participating projects will be introduced to high-tech parks in Suzhou and other cities in China Preferential Policies and introductions of each high-tech industrial parks will be presented in SVIEF. Free service will be provided to all participating projects to apply for funding from hi-tech par
E All participating projects will be distributed to related cities, hi-tech parks and enterprises. The winners will get certificates and be referred to China cities, hi-tech parks and enterprises.
Who can apply

Innovative high-tech entrepreneurs or research groups with leading technology or service in market, in the field of internet applications, software and IT, bio-medicine, green energy, new materials, modern manufacturing industries, agriculture and services, etc.

Winner Prizes
The final 10 teams will receive one pass to the 2012 SVIEF opening ceremony and one pass for the dinner on the contest day(Total value of $1000)
The final 10 teams will have the opportunity to meet with well-known venture capitalists and obtaining mentoring and investment.
The winners will have the opportunity to participate in a delegation to visit Suzhou and other China cities and hi-tech parks, to seek support and fund from China government.
The winners will have opportunity to enter "Silicon Valley Innovation Workshop" and the following project road show, professional tutoring, government support, investment matchmaking, and investment (up to $100,000 per project)
Important Dates

Submit an application form by Sep 15, 2012.

The top 10 projects will be selected by the contest judge panel, announced by September 30, 2012, to enter the final round on October 20, 2012. Up to three team members of the final ten teams can attend the final competition on Oct. 20, 2012.

On the final contest (October 20), each team will have five-minute for presentation and five-minute Q&A session from the judges

Top 3 projects will be selected as the winners in the final contest and award ceremony will be followed.
How to apply

Fill the contest application form (please click here) by Sep. 30, 2012.

The application fee is free (by Aug. 15), $30 (by Aug. 31), $50 (by Sep. 30).

Please make check payable to: 99people, Inc. and mail them to 565 Clyde Ave, Suite 600, Mountain View, CA 94043. Please write “Star-up Contest and your project name on the check for clarification.

After the first round, final ten teams will be notified either by phone or email. Please contact contest 2012@svief.org for further questions.
