James Cai Founder of Schein & Cai LLP; President of SVIBA

James Cai founded Schein & Cai LLP after serving as in-house legal counsel for Yahoo! Inc. He focuses his practice on corporate and business law, intellectual property, real estate, and investment based immigration, advising international business clients that are starting up or expanding their operation in the United States, and foreign nationals filing Eb-5 investment immigrant visa petitions in terms of due diligence review of investment projects and designing the appropriate ownership structure. He has served counsel for leading companies and organizations such as Yahoo!, Intel, Nokia, HiSense, Wells Fargo Bank, Webex, Blue Run Venture, Suzhou Industrial Park, and Ballet San Jose.

Mr. Cai believes in relationship lawyering and has a client-driven practice. He practices law the old fashioned way C giving each client this full attention with prompt responses, thorough research and analysis, aggressive representation and careful attention to details. As a result, most of his clients are repeat and long term clients, including individuals, small businesses, non-profit organizations and public companies.

Before founding Schein & Cai LLP, Mr. Cai served as in-house counsel for Yahoo! Inc. He also practiced law with Morrison & Foerster LLP and Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich LLP (now known as DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary), two of the largest law firms in California.

Mr. Cai is committed to community services and is frequently invited as a guest speaker and commentator on current legal issues by local news media, non-profit organizations and chambers of commerce. He is the co-founder and Chairman of Silicon Valley Information Business Alliance (www.sviba.org) and served as a commissioner for Community Development Block Grant Steering Committee for the City of Cupertino.
