John Thomas Head of Intelligent Spend Engineering, Uber

As a seasoned technology leader, John has over 15 years of experience in consumer and enterprise domains, building and running successful engineering organizations. Over the last two years, John built and led Uber's pricing, fares and incentives orgs, and designed systems to scale globally and manage a multi-billion dollar annual spend. Prior to Uber, John spent a decade running engineering teams at Google, most recently at YouTube (where he incubated and ran YouTube's paid video initiatives like YouTube Red and YouTube TV), Infrastructure, AdWords and Wallet. Prior to Google, he did a short stint in enterprise software at Siebel Systems. In addition to his roles at these tech firms, he is also an active angel investor and advisor in a number of startups, most notably DoorDash and AirHelp. He also serves on the Advisory Board of FootHill College's Computer Science Department.
