Lane Bess

Founder, Bess Ventures; Former CEO, Palo Alto Networks

Lane Bess has more than 30 years of experience and a proven track record in sales, marketing and executive management of publicly traded and privately held companies serving the enterprise and consumer markets. Mr. Bess helped start and acted as CEO of Palo Alto Networks. Mr. Bess also was instrumental in starting Zscaler, an innovator and leader in cloud-based Internet security services. He brought Trend Micro Internet security to market and made it a global name. Earlier in his career, Lane had held senior Sales and Marketing positions at NCR Corporation.

His own firm, Bess Ventures LLC, he invests a portion of the $350 Million he has accumulated from his successful exits to help early and mid-stage companies and find their path to success. He currently serves on the Boards of Zscaler, vArmour and ZeroFox, eSentire and Deep Instinct - and advises and invests in over a dozen companies.

Lane Bess Graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1983 with a Bachelor Science in Managerial Economics Degree from the school of Humanities and Social Sciences. Mr. Bess also holds a Masters Degree from the University of Dayton.
