The SVIEF "Win in Suzhou" Start-up Contest is now accepting applications.

The contest, title sponsored by Suzhou, is a highlight of the 2011 SVIEF and it aims to establish a platform for the exchange of high-tech talent and projects, while integrating venture capital, government, high-tech industrial park, and market resources in both the U.S. and China. We anticipate the entry of more than 300 high-tech projects into the contest. The contest committee and judge

panel are made up of members of Suzhou People’s Government, well-known scholars, top venture capitalists, angel investors, private entrepreneurs, PE funding, and business leaders in the U.S. and China. They will review all entries and select the top 20 most innovative and creative projects to compete for the first ᾿fifth places in the final contest, which will take place on October 22, 2011.

A The contest is supported by Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China (MOST), China Torch IT Services Innovation
Alliance. All participating projects will be directly matched with MOST’s Innovation Foundation. The winning projects will be recommended to MOST’s Torch Innovation Foundation.
B To apply for funding, fill out the free application on the website . All participating projects will be matched with Suzhou cityCity, and high-tech
industrial parks. Preferential Policies and introduction of each high-tech industrial parks will be distributed on the contest final site.
C The contest committee will invite more than 20 private entrepreneurs to attend the final contest, who will provide funding for viable projects
Winning Prizes

Contestants who qualify for the final competition will receive one admission ticket to the 2011 SVIEF opening ceremony featuring a keynote address by President Bill Clinton.Lunch and dinner for a team of 3 are also provided free on the day of the final contest (A total value of $4000).

The top 30 selected projects will have the chance to receive a $1,000,000 to $2,000,000 incentive investment fund from angel investors and private entrepreneurs.

The top 5 contest winners will have the opportunity to participate in a delegation to visit Suzhou City, as well as other cities and high-tech industrial parks to receive preferential Policies, government support fund.

Important Dates

Submit the application form by August 30, 2011.

The contest committee and judge panel will select 100 projects to participate in the first round and will announce them by September 15, 2011. Fifty projects will be selected to move on to the second round, and on September 30, 2011, we will announce the top 20 projects, which will enter the final contest.

On the day of the final contest (October 22), each team will deliver a 3-minute speech and received feedback from the judges.

The application fee is $30 if paid by July 31, $100 if paid by August. Please make checks payable to SVIBA and mail them to 1181 Chess Drive, Suite 200, Foster City, CA 94404. Please write “Start-up Contest- ếand your project name in the check .
