Mr. Li Dong Sheng, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of TCL Corporation
In 1982, Mr. Li joined TCL right after he graduated from Hua’nan Polytechnic University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. In 1985, he was appointed General Manager of TCL Communication Equipment Co. Ltd, and Director of Business Development of Huizhou Industrial Development Company. Mr. Li was then appointed Deputy General Manager of Huizhou Electronic Communication Co. in 1990. In 1993, Mr. Li became General Manager of TCL Electronics Group Co. From then on, TCL launched its color TV business, gained historical growth and quickly became an industry leader in China. Mr. Li succeeded as Chairman and CEO of TCL Corporation in 1996.
From 1997 to 2002, TCL Corporation successfully transferred its share holding structure and launched its IPO as a whole in early 2004. In the same year, TCL acquired Thomson’s TV business and Alcatel’s mobile phone business, laying its foundation for the leadership in global consumer electronics industry.
In 2009, Mr. Li was awarded “Business Leader of the Decade” by CCTV Economy Channel, with the honor being “CCTV Man of the Year in the Chinese Economy” in 2002 and 2004. He was also the “Asia Businessman of the Year” by Fortune Magazine in 2004 and, meanwhile, one of the Top 25 Global Business Leaders by Time Magazine and CNN. Mr. Li received a medal of OFFICER DE LA LEGION D’HONNEUR (French National Honor) in 2004. He was awarded “the State’s May 1 Labor Metal” of China in 2000.
Mr. Li was elected as a delegate to China’s 16th Party Congress, and the 10th and 11th National People’s Congress. Mr. Li holds a number of prestigious positions including: Chairman of China Electronic Imaging Industry Association; Vice Chairman of China Chamber of International Commerce; Chairman of Guangdong Chamber of Commerce in Home Appliances.
